Job Summary

Provides technical expertise, implementation, maintenance, sustainment, and planning of C2 systems and applications. Candidates will serve as the Systems and Network virtualization SME for the Local Area Network to include responsibility for the design and maintenance of the virtualized server farm. Provides system administration support, ensure daily operations of systems and apply requisite patches, upgrades, and configuration changes to maintain the security posture. Supports exercises where longer shifts may be required to ensure system uptime and will be the communication conduit for localized technical issues that may require systems engineering reachback.

Responsibilities and Duties

Provides technical expertise and direct support to include:

  • Provides system administration, integration and application support for mission systems.
  • Serves as technical POC on behalf of mission system program offices.
  • Tracks systems asset lifecycles and plan in accordance with program office guidance.
  • Provides technical guidance, assist with troubleshooting complex issues, and train technicians and staff as necessary.
  • Collaborates with staff, IA coordinators, and network administrators to ensure system functionality and security compliance.
  • Performs regular system backups and disaster recovery testing.
  • Performs shift work as required to support operations and exercise and contingency requirements.
  • Provides advanced troubleshooting and system performance monitoring.
  • Administers and maintains VMware virtual environments, including vCenter Server Appliances and ESXi hosts, to ensure stable operations.
  • Manages NetApp storage arrays, providing high-performance NFS services and efficient volume management to meet data-intensive needs.
  • Deploys and maintains Gigamon V-Series virtual taps to support comprehensive traffic monitoring and visibility within the virtual environment.
  • Maintains high availability through strategic VM migrations to mitigate maintenance impacts and ensure maximum system uptime.
  • Executes software lifecycle management by staying current with the latest versions of ONTAP, ESXi, Center, and VMware Tools.
  • Enforces cybersecurity compliance by applying DoD STIGs and ensuring successful weekly vulnerability scans across all managed systems.
  • Monitors and optimizes system performance, proactively troubleshooting and resolving complex infrastructure alerts or bottlenecks.
  • Oversees access control by managing user accounts and permissions for both the virtual environment and NetApp storage arrays.
  • Facilitates environment growth by provisioning, importing, and configuring new virtual machines based on organizational requirements.
  • Implements disaster recovery protocols, ensuring routine backups and rapid restoration capabilities to maintain business continuity.
  • Manages technical procurement, including budgeting and renewing support and maintenance contracts for VMware and NetApp assets.

Qualifications and Skills

Required knowledge and years of experience

Must have at least five (5) years providing technical and direct support as Network Engineer supporting DOW network infrastructure. Must have at least five (5) years of experience with management of IT systems infrastructure and related processes. Must have at least one (1) year experience with Maritime Operation Centers and Data Fusion Centers. Must have at least one (1) year experience with Joint Range Application C / Link 16 protocols. Must have at least one (1) year experience with C2 system architecture. At least twelve (12) months’ experience with MS Office Products and other software.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree with related experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity or STEM.

Certifications

CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+ (Desired)
